The `traceroute` command allows you to trace the path taken to a particular device.

Syntax

vyos@vyos:~$ traceroute <hostname>
vyos@vyos:~$ traceroute <x.x.x.x>
vyos@vyos:~$ traceroute <x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x>

When using traceroute with a hostname, you can force it to use either IPv4 or IPv6 by using the following syntax.

vyos@vyos:~$ traceroute ipv4 <hostname>
vyos@vyos:~$ traceroute ipv4 <x.x.x.x>

or

vyos@vyos:~$ traceroute ipv6 <hostname>
vyos@vyos:~$ traceroute ipv6 <x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x>
